Days Four and Five

On Monday we wrapped up in St. Augustine and then headed to Gainesville, FL where the University of Florida is. We use their track to train in the mornings. When we got settled in, the whole team headed to Leonardo's Pizzaria, a track team favorite. It's a genuine college restaurant- cheap and delicious carbo loaded food. The rolls are the best part and are always served warm. If you ever find yourself in Gainseville, a trip to Leonardo's is necessary. After dinner, some of us went over to the Student Union where there is bowling, pool, DDR, and other arcade games. Hobbs and Ceara went to town on the DDR machine while Jack, Chase, Kofi, Mr. Gough, Chris May, and Puffer were styling with bowling shoes. It was a tough game of bowling...everyone was pretty evenly skilled until Jack pulled ahead at the last second.

Today, we started the day off with our first work out on the Gator Track, which is phenomenal. The work out was intense, but good for us. As G always says, "It feels so good when it hurts so bad." Words of wisdom.

For lunch, the captains went to the Winn Dixie (yes we are in the South) and got cold cuts, chips, yogurt, bananas, apples, grapes, carrots, cookies, nutella (a real crowd pleaser) and lots of Arnold Palmer (yet another favorite). We lay out all the food buffet style and eat as a team in the hotel. This is great for two reasons: 1. it saves money 2. team bonding. But of course, after such a feast we all go into a food coma and took naps either by the pool or in our rooms.

Currently, we just got back from an INTENSE game of ultimate frisbee in a local park. It was shirts vs skins, and the skins were suffering from a lack of numbers. But like any true underdog, they pulled ahead and won the game 10-7. Proof that it is not the quantity but the quality that trumps. Tonight, we look forward to another yummy dinner and lots of chill time.
Peace. Love. Track Trip 2010
