Yesterday, the Lady Pioneers travelled to Laurel to compete in the ISL Championship Meet, which we WON!!!

For the second straight meet, we have had at least a dozen PRs and 3 Season Best Times.

We won all four relays, and the 4 x 800, 4 x 200, and 4 x 100 ALL turned in Season Best times, with PRs scattered throughout each relay group.

Annie and Millie were 2nd and 4th in the Long Jump, while Millie and Katy took 1st and 3rd in the High Jump.

Natalie and Emma were 1st and 3rd in the Shot, and Natalie teamed up with Caroline to take 2nd and 3rd in the Discus.

Sandra was 3rd in the 3200

In the 1600, Lucy was 2nd and Hannah came in 4th.

Margot and Krista were 4th and 5th, respectively in the 800, while Elena and Maria both ran PRs to finish 4th and 5th, respectively in the 400.

Daisy was 2nd in the 200 with a PR and her PR of 12.96 in the 100 not only captured 2nd place; it moved her to 5th on the All-Time list.

Christine and Margauxwere 1st and 3rd in the 100 hurdles, while Calli and Christine came in 1st and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.

Cuyahoga Relays 2011 - Split Sheet

Cuyahoga Heights highlights

On Saturday, the Girls’ Track & Field Team traveled to Cuyahoga Heights to compete in the 55th Annual Cuyahoga Relays, where we finished 1st of 7 teams. It was our most exciting meet of the season that came down to the very last event, which we needed to win in order to come away as meet Champions. The fact that the team had 19 PRs and 3 Season Best Relay Times was proof that everyone wanted this win.

Our highlights included:

5th place in the Sprint Medley and two 3rd place finishes in the Shot and the Discus.

We earned 2nd places in the Pole Vault, the 4 x 100, the 4 x 200 and the Distance Medley.

We had six 1st places, starting with the Long Jump, where Annie’s leap of 16’ 7 ½” was not only the longest of the meet, it also moved her to 2nd on the All-Time list.

Our High Jump trio of Shauna, Katy and Millie also brought home 1st place honors

The 4 x 1600 relay of Lucy, Hannah, Shivani and Sandra began the running events with a 1st place and a season best time.

Two events later, the 4 x 800 quartet of Krista, Elena, Margot and Emma came through with another convincing 1st place finish.

A bit of excitement came when our Shuttle team of Christine, Margaux, Gellie and Calli overcame an early spill and came from behind to win at the tape.

Not to be outdone in the excitement category, in the final event of the meet, the 4 x 400, the team of Elena, Emma, Annie, and Calli battled a very strong Heights relay that came down to the last leg of the race and the last 300 meters, where Calli’s gutsy move made a big difference. Not only did we win the race, we recorded our season best time by 6 seconds, with all four Reserve runners posting very nice PRs. It was an exciting way to end a very good meet for us.

Congratulations, Ladies!

Our next meet is our League Meet at Laurel tomorrow.

clarification

Ladies and Followers------
Through an apparent oversight, the time listed for the start of the Cuyahoga Heights meet this Saturday (07/May) is incorrect.  The field events begin at 3:00pm and the running events, at 4:30pm.  This means that all students sitting for the SAT this Saturday should have no problems.  Those taking the SAT should go to the test dressed in uniforms so that it is only a matter of leaving the test and going directly to the bus or vans for our departure from the MAC at 1:15pm.

I hope this clarifies things.  Please, pass along this correction/clarification to parents and others.

Let's get pumped, Ladies,.......with belief in yourselves and loads of Fire and Desire!!!!!

13th Annual Lakeview Invitational - team standings

Lakeview Invitational-results

Lakeview Invitational

On Saturday, the Girls’ Track & Field team participated in the Lakeview Invitational, where we finished tied for 12th place out of 24 teams. It was the biggest and most competitive meet in which we have competed, and the Lady Pioneers performed quite well, with 15 personal records and a couple of season best times for relay groups.

Our highlights included the following:

Annie placed 4th in the long jump, while both Calli and Lucy scored in the pole vault, capturing 5th and 8th place, respectively. Lucy’s vault of 7 feet moves her to 3rd on the All-Time list. Calli also placed 4th in the 300 hurdles, and her time of 49.07 ties her for 4th on the All-Time list.

The 4 x 200 relay of Carley, Daisy, Annie and Calli captured 7th place, while the 4 x 800 quartet of Margot, Elena, Krista and Emma also earned 7th place with a season best time.

The 4 x 400 with Christine, Emma, Annie and Calli also registered a season best time that earned them 5th place in the event.

Calli was the Iron Lady of the meet for us, contributing 10.5 points to our team total of 23.

Congratulations, Ladies!

just believe!!!

Ladies----
Although you are all resting at this time (right???!!!???), I thought I'd send along these thoughts about tomorrow's meet.

As I mentioned today at practice, there are 16 (not 17) teams registered for the Invitational, and a good number of them are quite good.  I submit, however, that if we perform at the level of our best results so far this year, we have an outstanding chance of scoring in a good number of the 17 events.  Just believe in yourselves and give it your all!!

Nothing to it but to do it!!!!!!

See y'all at breakfast tomorrow morning

Longstreth Relays - Results

Longstreth Final Results

On Saturday, the Girls' Track team hosted the 55th Annual Longstreth Relays, where we finished in 3rd place out of 7 teams, one of our best finishes in several years.

A few of the highlights included:
We earned 2nd place in the pole vault with our duo of Callie and Lucy , while Annie, Milli, and Christine combined to capture another 2nd in the long jump.  Annie's jump of 15' 5 1/2" was the longest jump of the meet and places her just 4 inches out of the All-Time Top 5.

We had 4 different relay groups score 3rd places in their events.  These included the Shuttle Hurdle quartet of Christine, Gelli, Margaux, and Calli; the 4 x 200 that consisted of Chevonne, Daisy, Annie, and Calli; the 4 x 800 foursome of Krista, Margot, Elena, and Emma; and finally, the 4 x 400 team of Elena, Maria, Christine, and Calli.

While we had several girls who posted nice doubles, our iron lady for the meet was co-captain Calli, who contributed to the 2nd place pole vault and three 3rd places.

Great job, overall, ladies!

Our next meet is at home tomorrow against Canton Central Catholic.

Crestwood Highlights

On Saturday, April 2, the Girls' Track & Field team marked its first competition on the season at the Don Faix Invitational at Crestwood High School. We entered only 9 of the 16 events, placing in 6 of them.

Our 4x800 team of Sandercock, Warner, Cummins, and Horgan came in 8th, while the 4x100 relay of Anderson, Stewart, Ogede, and Carter captured 6th place. The 4x200 foursome of Anderson, Ogede, Carter, and McKenna finished in 5th place and McKenna ran to a 6th place finish in the 300 hurdles.

Other highlights included a nice double from Emma Horgan, who ran 2:43.3 anchor on the 4x800 and came back to clock a 2:41.9 in the 800. Freshman Annie Carter also had a nice double with a 27.7 leg of the 4x200 and a 12.7 anchor on the 4x100. Although their event was not included in the scoring, sophomore Shivani Shah and freshman Halle Sovich ran the JV 1600 and turned in solid times of 6:47.3 and 6:47.5, respectively.

Considering that this was our first meet and we took only a partial squad, this was a nice job, Ladies. Our next meet is our very own Longstreth Relays this coming Saturday, April 9.

excited to begin our 2011 campaign

After a week of hard training (post break), our team is looking forward to its first meet at Crestwood. For the newer members of the team, this might be somewhat intimidating because of the caliber of competition. The veterans are used to it, therefore, we expect them to relax the young ones. The meet should give the team an early gauge of where we are and where we need to be for the rest of the season. We are excited to begin our 2011 campaign.

Spring in Ohio

The weather is looking ominous for the meet on Saturday (mix of rain and snow showers with highs in the upper 30s).
