Penn Relays
Ladies,
Take a look at the
finishing form for each of these runners, especially the anchor who, although
she has this massive lead, actually sprints the final 200. At the end of
a 400, they are all still pressing forward -- finding and using the extra gear.
Also note that the 2nd leg for the USA Blue team is Jessica Beard of
Euclid.
Watch, enjoy, and get
pumped!!!!!

Ladies,
Nice job yesterday.
Although 3rd place is not as high as 1st place, we pulled together and hung
together as a team. Had we not done so, even 3rd could have been out of
the picture. We'll chat about the highs (quite a few!!!) and the lows at
team meeting on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, given the
time of our return last evening and the fact that some were not on the bus, not
all of you got the word about the next 2-3 days. Here's the scoop:
1.
No
practice today (obviously)
2.
Tomorrow
(Sunday), you NEED to do some running because......
3.
There
will be NO practice on Monday (numerous reasons, not the least of which is the
need for legs -- and bodies -- to rest a bit more)
As for what type and
intensity of running you might do on Sunday,
Distance:
· 2-3 miles of easy running,
throwing in a surge or two (perhaps every 2-3 minutes) if you feel the spirit
· find a soft surface and do some
10-12 striders @ +/- 75%, with 15 sec. rest after each
· lots of stretching afterwards
Sprints/Jumps:
· 5-8 minutes of
easy running
· double dynamic drills @ 40-50
meters
· pyramid @ 5 (double top) @ 50
meters @ +/- 75%, with 15sec. rest after each BUT 1 full minute at top before
descending
· lots of stretching
We really do want you to take
Monday OFF running, though you may bike if possible
BUT nothing hard.
Enjoy the respite; rest;
heal; and let's get fired up for next week's meet!!!!
PS: I'll have results
posted tomorrow.

56th Annual Longstreth Relays
Just moments before competition starts for the 56th Annual Longstreth Relays, co-captain Orosz, along with a few of her cronies: 'We might be smiling, but we're ready to compete.'
Longstreth Relays results
On Saturday, the girls (also) hosted the Longstreth Relays, our first meet. We placed sixth (6th) out of 11 teams, and that was without entering the Distance Medley and having only one pole vaulter.
Four of the five field event relays placed:
· Sophia, Tatiana and Emma were 5th on the Shot
· Katy, Ellie and Tiffany finished in 6th in the High Jump
· Lucy, our only vaulter, managed to get 4th in the event
· Our Long Jump team of Annie, Emily and Christine captured 1st place, with Annie’s jump of 16 feet – 10 inches as the best of the meet. That also improves her 2nd place standing on the Top Five All-Time list.
In the running events, we had two relays that placed:
· The shuttle hurdle quartet of Daisy, Halle, Annie and Christine captured 2nd place
· The 4 x 800 group of Emma, Elena, Emily and Margot came in 4th
Although there were several good performances, overall stand-outs for us were:
· Elena, who had a nice double with a 6:01 in the 1600 and a 2:35 in the 800.
· Iron ladies who were quite busy were Daisy and Annie, both of whom had to quadruple:
Annie in the long jump, hurdles, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400
Daisy had the hurdles, 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and a 400 in the sprint medley
Congratulations to all the girls for a great team effort!!!!
