Hornet Relays

On Saturday, Girls’ Track & Field traveled to the Hornet Relays at East Canton High, where we finished in First Place.  It was a strong meet for us all around.

Our field events got us started with a 3rd place in the shot, 2nd place in the discus and pole vault, and 1st place in the long jump and high jump, where Annie and Sophie had the best jumps of the meet.  Sophie’s 5’ 2” places her 5th on the All-Time list.

We were 3rd in the Distance Medley and the Shuttle Hurdle relays; 2nd in the Sprint Medley, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400.  The 4 x 200 quartet closed out the meet with a 1st place.

Great job; Great Season, Ladies.

Remember our team meeting today at 4:00.  Bring uniforms and jackets.

Cuyahoga Relays at Cuyahoga Heights High School

On Saturday, Girls’ Track & Field competed in the Cuyahoga Relays at Cuyahoga Heights High School.  We finished in 3rd place and again had numerous personal best personal best performances.  These were our highlights:

Co-Captain Annie got things off to a record-breaking start by jumping 17 feet, 2 ¼  inches, which not only established a new WRA record but also broke the previous meet record. She was joined by Sophie and Erin in capturing 1st place in the long jump.

The high jump trio of Sophie, Cat and Maya finished in 2nd place with the highest jump total we have had in over 10 years.

Rounding out the field events, we claimed 3rd place in the pole vault and 4th place in both the shot and the discus.

Our top finishes in the running events came with a 3rd place in the 4 x 100; a 1st in the shuttle hurdle relay and in the final event, the 4 x 400, we were edged out right at the tape and finished in 2nd.

Great job, ladies.  Our next meet is this coming Saturday at East Canton.
