Ned Weingart Relays
On Saturday, Girls' Track & Field traveled to Cleveland Heights where we faced the toughest
competition of our season at the Ned Weingart Relays. Scoring 40 points and logging a host of
season best performances, we finished in 7th place out of the 14 teams. Led by strong
performances from our field events, we scored in 11 of the 14 events we entered, with the
following highlights:
-- Sophia and Madison combined for a 3rd place in the discus and 6th place in the shot
-- Both Ana and Daniela had PRs as they finished in 3rd in the pole vault.
-- Cat and Felicity were 4th in the high jump, while Erin and Allie were 5th in the long jump.
-- On the track, we had two 7th place finishes, with our Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relays.
-- We rounded out our scoring with 5th places in the Distance Medley, 4 x 800, 4 x 200 and 4 x
400.
Special shout-out to Libby, who had 3 PRs.
Congrats to Libby and all the girls on a nice day at their office.

East Palestine Girls’ Invitational
On Saturday,
Girls’ Track & Field travelled to East Palestine to compete in the East
Palestine Girls’ Invitational, where we finished in 7th place out of
11 teams.
The team
scored in 10 of the 15 events that we entered, with the following highlights:
Madison was
8th in the Discus and 7th in the Shot.
Nina
captured 5th place in the 1600 and Sam earned 6th in the
800.
Cat was 2nd
in the 400, while Felicity came in 6th on the 300 hurdles.
All four of
our relays scored as follows:
the 4 x 800
was 4th; the 4 x 200 came in 6th;
the 4 x 100
was 4th; and
the 4 x 400
ended the meet with a very exciting 3rd place
The Iron
Lady of the meet was Co-Captain Cat Berry who began with a high jump clearance
of 4’ 2”, then hustled over to lead off the 4 x 800 (a brand new experience
for her) in
a very solid time of 2:40.3, helping the relay to its 4th place
finish. Cat then toed the line for the
open 400, where she captured 2nd place in 65.2. She finished her day with another 65.2 as the
anchor of our 3rd place 4 x 400 relay. Great quadruple. Congrats to Cat and the rest of the team.
Our next
meet is tomorrow (Tuesday) at Laurel.

GIRLS TEAM PLACES 8th
The Girls (also) hosted our Longstreth Relays this past Saturday, where we finished in 8th place. Considering that for 10 members of our team, it was their first time ever doing track, we are proud of the efforts turned in for this first meet of the season.
The team scored in 9 of the 13 events, with:
- 6th place in the discus, high jump, long jump, 4 – by – 200, and 4 – by – 400.
- 5th place finishes in the 4 – by – 1600 and the Distance Medley.
- The pole vault trio of Daniela, Ana and Felicity captured 4th place
- Shuttle Hurdle quartet of Alicia, Libby, Felicity and Cat earned 3rd place honors.
Great efforts, ladies.
Our next meet is tomorrow at Laurel (or Saturday at the East Palestine Invitational)

Longstreth Relays Scheduled for this Saturday
For nearly 60 years, the Longstreth Relays has been one of the major athletic events WRA hosts annually. This year, we will have 20 teams participating. WRA girls' track and field welcome the following schools who'll be participating in the Longstreth Relays this Saturday, April 4.

WUSTL Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams Sweep UAA Outdoor Titles
Freshman Daisy Ogede (WRA '13) had an impressive day for the WUSTL women, racing to all-UAA honors in four different events. Ogede won the 200 with a career-best time of 25.17, which ranks third in Washington University history. Sophomore Emily Warner finished as the runner-up in a time of 25.29, while senior Katie Sandson was fifth in 25.66. Ogede added a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a career-best time of 15.38. Freshmen Rebecca Ridderhoff (15.96) and Anna Bailes (16.20) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the event. Ogede also finished third in the 100 (12.54), while Sandson was second (12.46) and senior Jasmine Williams (13.09) was eighth. Sandson, Warner, Ridderhoff and Ogede also placed third in the 400 relay with a time of 49.23. Warner also finished as the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 57.17.

Hornet Relays
On Saturday, Girls’ Track & Field traveled to the Hornet Relays at East Canton High, where we finished in First Place. It was a strong meet for us all around.
Our field events got us started with a 3rd place in the shot, 2nd place in the discus and pole vault, and 1st place in the long jump and high jump, where Annie and Sophie had the best jumps of the meet. Sophie’s 5’ 2” places her 5th on the All-Time list.
We were 3rd in the Distance Medley and the Shuttle Hurdle relays; 2nd in the Sprint Medley, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400. The 4 x 200 quartet closed out the meet with a 1st place.
Great job; Great Season, Ladies.
Remember our team meeting today at 4:00. Bring uniforms and jackets.

Cuyahoga Relays at Cuyahoga Heights High School
On Saturday, Girls’ Track & Field competed in the Cuyahoga Relays at Cuyahoga Heights High School. We finished in 3rd place and again had numerous personal best personal best performances. These were our highlights:
Co-Captain Annie got things off to a record-breaking start by jumping 17 feet, 2 ¼ inches, which not only established a new WRA record but also broke the previous meet record. She was joined by Sophie and Erin in capturing 1st place in the long jump.
The high jump trio of Sophie, Cat and Maya finished in 2nd place with the highest jump total we have had in over 10 years.
Rounding out the field events, we claimed 3rd place in the pole vault and 4th place in both the shot and the discus.
Our top finishes in the running events came with a 3rd place in the 4 x 100; a 1st in the shuttle hurdle relay and in the final event, the 4 x 400, we were edged out right at the tape and finished in 2nd.
Great job, ladies. Our next meet is this coming Saturday at East Canton.
Ladies: Don’t forget our team feed right after practice this afternoon.

East Palestine Relays
This past
Friday, Girls’ Track & Field competed in the East Palestine Relays, where
we came away with 2nd place out of 10 teams. We scored in all of the events contested,
finishing with 63.5 points and the following highlights:
The girls
earned 3rd place in the long jump, shuttle hurdles, and the distance
medley.
2nd
place honors went to our 4 x 1600 team of Irina, Molly, Anna, and Abby and the
4 x 800 group of Anna, the two Sophies and Abby. The 4 x 400 quartet of Annie, Sophie, Emily
and Wade-Watta closed out the meet with a 1st place finish.
The Iron
Ladies of the meet were Sophie A and Annie, both of whom quadrupled in the
meet.

Perry Relays
This past Saturday, the girls traveled to Perry High School to compete in the Perry Relays, where we finished in 4th place overall. While we scored in 13 of the 14 events and had over a dozen Season Best performances, these were our highlights:
Earning 3rd place finishes were the 4 x 1600 team of Irina, Sophie N., Molly and Abby; the Shuttles foursome of Halle, Sophie A., Jelly, and Annie; the 4 x 200 relay of Erin, Emily, Catherine and Wade-Watta; and finally the 4 x Iron ladies with Ainsley, Victoria, Madison and Maya.
The high jump duo of Sophie and Catherine were second, with Sophie tying for the best jump in our division. In fact, her 5 – foot clearance was the highest jump of a WRA girl in 7 years. Finally, our 4 x 400 quartet of Catherine, Emily, Annie and Wade-Watta capped off the meet for us with a 1st place finish.

Nordonia Relays
The Western Reserve Academy track and field teams competed at the Nordonia Relays April 12 in Macedonia.
The girls finished 10th out of 12 teams with 17 points. Mentor won with 100 points and Stow-Munroe Falls (82) and Brunswick (78) took second and third, respectively.

Longstreth Relays Recap
On Saturday, the Girls (also)
hosted our Longstreth Relays,
finishing in 7th place out
of the 13 teams that that competed.
We scored points in 7 of the
total 13 events, with the following highlights:
Finishing in 6th,
was the pole vault relay of Lisie, Daniela and Ana. We
had four 4th places with
the 4 x 100, the shuttle hurdles, the 4 x 200, and the 4 x 400.
The high jump trio of Sophie, Catherine and Annie captured 3rd, while the sprint medley quartet of Dockery, Cremer, Halle and Wade-Watta
were 2nd.
Special recognition goes to Sophie
Arzberger, Anna Ballard, Emily Cremer, Erin Dockery, Wade-Watta Kamara,
Meredith McCuskey, and Kristina Nazarova, all of whom had
impressive debuts in the meet.
The Iron Ladies of the meet were Tricia, Sophie Arzberger, and Abby,
who tripled, and Catherine, Annie,
and Wade-Watta who quadrupled.
Nicely done, Ladies!!!

22 Year Old Record Broken
On March 22, the Roanoke Maroons Distance Medley Relay team broke a 22 year old record at the Roanoke Track and Field Invitational with a time of 13:15.96.
