On Saturday, Girls' Track & Field traveled to Cleveland Heights where we faced the toughest
competition of our season at the Ned Weingart Relays. Scoring 40 points and logging a host of
season best performances, we finished in 7th place out of the 14 teams. Led by strong
performances from our field events, we scored in 11 of the 14 events we entered, with the
following highlights:
-- Sophia and Madison combined for a 3rd place in the discus and 6th place in the shot
-- Both Ana and Daniela had PRs as they finished in 3rd in the pole vault.
-- Cat and Felicity were 4th in the high jump, while Erin and Allie were 5th in the long jump.
-- On the track, we had two 7th place finishes, with our Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relays.
-- We rounded out our scoring with 5th places in the Distance Medley, 4 x 800, 4 x 200 and 4 x
400.
Special shout-out to Libby, who had 3 PRs.

East Palestine Girls’ Invitational
On Saturday,
Girls’ Track & Field travelled to East Palestine to compete in the East
Palestine Girls’ Invitational, where we finished in 7th place out of
11 teams.
The team
scored in 10 of the 15 events that we entered, with the following highlights:
Madison was
8th in the Discus and 7th in the Shot.
Nina
captured 5th place in the 1600 and Sam earned 6th in the
800.
Cat was 2nd
in the 400, while Felicity came in 6th on the 300 hurdles.
All four of
our relays scored as follows:
the 4 x 800
was 4th; the 4 x 200 came in 6th;
the 4 x 100
was 4th; and
the 4 x 400
ended the meet with a very exciting 3rd place
The Iron
Lady of the meet was Co-Captain Cat Berry who began with a high jump clearance
of 4’ 2”, then hustled over to lead off the 4 x 800 (a brand new experience
for her) in
a very solid time of 2:40.3, helping the relay to its 4th place
finish. Cat then toed the line for the
open 400, where she captured 2nd place in 65.2. She finished her day with another 65.2 as the
anchor of our 3rd place 4 x 400 relay. Great quadruple. Congrats to Cat and the rest of the team.
Our next
meet is tomorrow (Tuesday) at Laurel.
